Passports
The Susquehanna County Prothonotary's office is a United States passport acceptance agent. All individuals requesting passports must appear in person at the Prothonotary's office with the following documents:
- Proof of U.S. Citzenship (a previous passport or certified birth certificate with a raised seal issued by the state or county in which you were born. Certificates from hospitals are not acceptable.
- Two (2) passport photographs -2"x2". The photographs must be color, clear, with a full-front view of your face and printed on photo paper with a plain white background. Passport picutre services are available in the Prothonotary's office for a fee of $10.00.
- Photo identification is required (a vaild driver's license or photo identification card issued by a city, state or federal agency. Military identification is also acceptable. If you do not have vaild identification, please refer to the U.S. Department of State website for further information.
- Children under the age of 14 require both parents presence ans signatures. Affidavits are available for parent who cannot be present.
Passport Fees
- $67.00 check or money order for applicants 16 years of age and older made payble to "U.S. Department of State".
- $52.00 check or money order for applicants 15 years of age and under made payable to "U.S. Department of State".
- $30.00 separate check, money order or cash for processing fee made payable to the "Prothonotary".
- $10.00 check, money order or cash for passport photo fee made payable to the "Prothonotary"
Please allow at least ten weeks for processing your passport application. Expedited services are available for an additional fee of $60.00. In extreme cases you may need to contact the U.S. Passport Agency in Philadelphia for further assistance.
Passport Renewal
- To renew an expired passport which was issued less than 15 years ago, the applicant need only submit the required form, two (2) new passport photos, expired passport and check or money order in the amount of $67.00 payable to the "U.S. Department of State". The form is to be completed and maild by the applicant to the appropriate address. If the passport was issued more than 15 years ago, you will need to appear in person at the passport agent's office.
